Dear Friends,

As many of you know, for the past several years, post recuperating from knee replacement surgery, I have trained and ridden in Bike4Chai, a 2-day 180-mile bike ride to support Chai Lifeline and Camp Simcha. Over the past 3 years we have raised over $20,000 for this cause. Then last year when Dalia and I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro we raised funds for Chai Lifeline Mid-Atlantic to help support the local organization deal with over a hundred children facing serious illness. Through the generosity of many friends, patients and others we were honored to raise an additional $20,000. This cause has become very near and dear to me. As a board member for Chai Lifeline Mid-Atlantic, I continually see the amazing work this organization does. From making the sick children’s lives a little bit more comfortable to making dreams come true for the children and their families there is nothing that can not be accomplished. Just recently a 16 year old who has been confined to a wheelchair since age 5 and who had expressed interest in going skiing but was told by his parents that it could not happen, was seen skiing down the slopes due to the ingenuity and nothing is impossible nature of Chai Lifeline and its volunteers.

Originally I thought that this would be a one-time thing and after my first year I came home and said “No way I am doing this again”. When I found myself at the finish line a second year I said “Well, maybe I’ll do it again”. And then after finishing in the torrential rain last year I said “Of course I am going to do this next year”. You see, it’s no longer about me. I’ve chosen to support Camp Simcha for the wonderful work they do, allowing children with serious illnesses to experience two weeks of pure joy in a summer camp unlike any other. I’m excited to announce that I once again will be undertaking to support this incredible cause but this time focusing on the children that Chai Lifeline helps throughout the year. On August 14th, 2019, I will once again embark on the Bike4Chai, two-day, 180-mile bike ride through three states to Camp Simcha in the Catskills. Upon arriving at the "GREATEST FINISH LINE IN THE WORLD" at Camp Simcha, I hope to be able to say to the sick child who will place a finisher's medal around my neck this one’s is for you and all the other children helped by this amazing organization.

This year’s ride is even more thrilling than past years’ rides: it’s a landmark ride, the 10th Bike4Chai! Please join me in supporting this most worthy cause as I join these pediatric warriors at the triumphant finish line in Camp Simcha. My goal is to raise $18,000, and I – along with the children of Camp Simcha – hope you can join me in reaching this goal! I will personally be matching any donation you make thereby doubling the effect of your contribution. All donations are 100% tax-deductible

Honorary Riding Partner

Jacob

Age: 4

Jacob is an adorable 4 year boy who loves to have fun. He likes riding outside on his tricycle and anything related to trains. His disarming grin and energetic personality make him a joy to be around. You'd never know from seeing Jacob that he suffers from TSC, a disease which causes seizures, and still needs a cure. Jacob is a tough little guy, and one day god willing he will overcome.
