I am excited to share with you -- family, friends and colleagues -- that this summer I will have the opportunity to ride my bike and do some good: I will participate in an 180-mile ride through New Jersey, the Pocono Mountains and Upstate NY.

This is no ordinary ride; it’s a very special cycling event ending at Camp Simcha, a remarkable overnight camp that provides seriously ill children with a vacation from sickness, restoring their spirits and renewing their determination to fight.

Life for a child with cancer or other serious illness is grueling; Chai Lifeline’s flagship programs, Camp Simcha and Camp Simcha Special, offer 430 children a chance to forget about illness and just be kids again.

This year’s ride marks a landmark in that it is the 10th anniversary of Bike4Chai. Along with several hundred other riders, I will depart on the two-day ride on Wednesday, August 14, 2019. Our finish line is at Camp Simcha, where we will be greeted by the campers' beaming faces.

Simcha is the Hebrew word for joy. I hope that our riding group can play a small role in bringing joy to the children of Camp Simcha.

My objective is to raise $7,500 by then; I hope you will help me reach this goal. All donations are 100% tax-deductible.
