This summer, I will once again be doing a 2-day 180-mile bike ride through New Jersey, the Pocono Mountains, and Upstate NY. This is no ordinary cycling event, it’s an exhilarating ride ending at Camp Simcha, a remarkable overnight camp that provides seriously ill children with a vacation from sickness, restoring their spirits and renewing their determination to fight.

I can’t believe it’s almost a year since I did my first Bike4Chai ride. I had just started cycling last year and it was a pretty challenging experience, but the sheer delight on the faces of the campers and staff alike at the finish line made it all worth it. The ride is not easy; neither is life for a child with cancer or other serious illness. The kids at Camp Simcha are fighting the fight of their lives – and for their lives. Their strength and fortitude have inspired me to find my own strength and fortitude. Over the year with the support and encouragement from friends and families I’ve kept up my training, working really hard to give the cause the attention and support it deserves, and I look forward to a successful (and hopefully easier) ride.

This is an opportunity for me to participate in a life-changing event to help Chai Lifeline Canada provide seriously and chronically ill children and their families with support and encouragement during their most trying times. From a shoulder to lean on, to providing critical services and support programs, Chai Lifeline’s goal is to help families cope with a child’s illness. Life with a child with cancer or another life-threatening/life-altering condition is fraught with pain, fear, and unimaginable challenges. Camp Simcha is Chai Lifeline’s flagship program, and for two weeks of every summer, it provides over 400 children the chance to forget about their illnesses and experience life simply as children, rather than patients. A summer in Camp Simcha is an extraordinary opportunity for hundreds of children to restore their fighting spirit and renew their determination to defeat illness and suffering.

I will participate in Bike4Chai on August 14th and 15th, 2019. My goal is to raise $18,000 by then, and I hope I can count on you to make a donation and join me in supporting this most worthy cause.

Please contribute by clicking on the DONATE button now. All donations are 100% tax-deductible.

Best regards,
Ron
